A handful of observations on the popular politics of AI: 1) Americans fear and dislike AI (even those who use it!) and a majority are now worried about extinction too. >80% would rather slow down than “beat China.” 2) But they’re not yet willing to vote on the issue. Trump’s accelerationism is a bet that voters care about the stock market way more than they care about AI.
